Kind words about Healing Hypothalamic Amenorrhea:

“Kate’s book is probably the most helpful resource I have used throughout my journey with hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA). There doesn’t seem to be a lot of information available for women when they find out they have HA, so all of the information I know now has come through my own research, websites, and blogs. I stumbled across Kate’s blog and not only loved her writing style but found the information SO helpful and so relatable. I instantly purchased ‘Healing Hypothalamic Amenorrhea’ and read it all straight away. Kate explains everything so perfectly, includes stories from real women, explores the science, and provides suggestions of what women can try to help heal themselves. I could not have asked for more from this beautiful book. Thank you Kate! xx” – Georgia

“Kate – I feel compelled to write to you with a huge thanks – your book is so so inspirational and amazing! You were me! I am now totally in the place you were. And it’s so hard to calm the mind enough to make change, especially when in this industry. But your book – wow! I feel totally inspired. Did I already say that?? Really can’t express in words how grateful I am for you sending it my way. Your words really resonate with me in every way and I feel like my journey is just about to change dramatically because of them. I really can’t thank you enough. Big love to you and the little miracle O. – Nadine xx”

Does this promote a keto-paleo approach to health the hypothalamus? And adrenals?

      Hi Linda,

No definitely not – a ketogenic diet would not be conducive to healing hypothalamic amenorrhea and/or adrenal fatigue. It does promote a paleo approach, however.

Hi, oh how I wish I was aware of your book and this community 3 years ago. I was in the same situation. Excess exercise and a restricted calories intact. I had a complete adrenal breakdown & hit rock bottom. (Although I didn’t know what was going on, no gp advise or diagnosis.- naive yet that was where I was.) It’s been a hard year and a half to get back to where I should be physically. The mental component was the hardest part. Being a perfectionist set in your ways makes coming to terms with weight gain, reduced exercise & ‘your’ perceived imperfection tough. I’m now healthy with all of my levels corrected now. I always wanted to be a healthy mum. It’s possible, despite your self doubt, trust me when I say over coming this and recently finding out I’m pregnant makes every change I made beyond worth it. You’re beautiful, treat your body well, live, love, forgive & evolved x

      Hi Cat,

I was very inspired when I read your message. I’m only young but the thought that I may not be able to have kids in the future because of the absence of not having my period is quite daunting to say the very least. I too only became aware of this ‘community’ so if you don’t mind me asking.. how did you in fact get your period back? I know you’ll probably say weight gain, but how did you do that the healthy way? (as I assume you did) And did you still exercise? And lastly, how long did it take you to get your body back to a ‘healthy’ state?
I hope your happy and well.

        Hi Mikaela,

Apologies for the late reply. I discuss how I got everything back on track in my ebook – http://www.theholisticnutritionist.com/ebook , which includes plenty of strategies for you to try, as well as inspiring stories from others who have been there.

It took 7 months of consistent effort (including weight gain) to get my period back, another 4 months to bring back ovulation, and another 5 months to fall pregnant.

        Good luck!

First of all— Thank you for taking the time and effort to write this! I only started following in my quest to resolve and understand my own HA better. I really appreciate HA being brought to the forefront, ESPECIALLY as a wellness/fitness professional (as I am a fitness professional myself)!
Question 1- when you say E-book; is it in kindle format?
Question 2- can I purchase as an American?
    Thanks again!

Yes you can – it is in Australian dollars. Using Paypal it will convert for you, so should be around 10-15 US dollars, I think.

I just purchased your book… I am so excited to read it and learn more about HA. I haven’t had my period in almost 1 year and my doctor didn’t give me any advice at all or information on what might be causing it.

I am only now realizing that I have been over training and restrictively eating for so long that I have driven my body into a state of stress and therefore no longer menstruating.
I always tell me partner “no im not…” etc when it comes to the above but after reading so much on the internet I am finally coming to terms with the fact that I might have HA and I need to treat it straight away so I can have a family one day and walk on my strong bones forever!

thanks so much for this opportunity!

Hi I love the sound of this book but wondering if it will help me. I to had regular periods from age 13-17 when I started the pill. I then came off the pill at 24 and have never had a natural period (I am now 33). The Dr said I have a low AMH and my only hope of children is IVF. Three failed attempts and one success but would love more children and to be honest just feel like a normal woman.
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Michelle,

I believe the ebook will help with preparing your body for conception, however as I am sure you understand I cannot say exactly “yes this book will restore your fertility”. It helped me, though, when all of the doctors told me I would need fertility treatment to fall pregnant. Good luck! Let me know how you go. x

    Hi Kate,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge!
I suffered anorexia at age 11, was placed on levlen (contraceptive) at 14. At 19 i decided to stop taking the pill and became obsessed with training. I lost 10kg, lived on pre workout and did a few bodybuilding shows, and hence my biggest regret.
I am now 23, engaged and thinking of my future.
I am at a turning point where I will do anything to get my body ready to carry a baby. My carbohydrate intake is not counted anymore and my diet consists of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, lean proteins and chocolate. 2016 is the year i want to get my period back. I have relaxed with training and am curious as to if you have any advice. The Doctors have told me its just PCOS, but instinct tells me its how i have poorly treated my body 🙁
Doctors have prescribed me primolut N to get a period, and following, will place me on birth control. What is your opinion 🙂
I have held off 9months taking this medication!!
    Thank you Kate

    Hi

Will this book be helpful if I do not want to follow a Paleo approach or is it fairly direct in that this is the way/only way?
I have tried paleo & quitting sugar and grains however feel much better when i include them (have done lots of trial and error).

    Thanks

      Hi Sian,

It is mostly paleo (all of the recipes are), however I give the options of incorporating things such as quinoa, buckwheat and legumes if you tolerate them. Absolutely if you feel better with them you should listen to your body and keep them in!

      Good luck!
